4th of July Camping
We had the best camp-out by the pond this year for the 4th that we have ever had, and I am not the only one saying so! Lots of people; loads of fun… We roasted a huge pig on the 4th and the smell wafted through the neighborhood and the campers really drooled with the waiting. I thank our cousin, Cleo and his wife, Nancy, for all the hard work! It ain’t easy roasting a pig that size, I’m here to tell ya! The rest of the food was good too! I especially loved Nancy’s cheese filled sausages… Mmmmmm!!
An Amish friend came with his boys and it was so much fun to watch Omar laugh at our games. He even participated in a ‘cherry pit spitting contest’. He was only going to try it once but ended up with the regulation three tries. My windy husband took first in that contest and won his favorite Three Musketeer candy bar.
The kids took part in the wheelbarrow races and that was a hoot watching all those fannies sticking up in the air. I played the egg toss, with our worship leader at church, Noah, as my partner. What an encouragement he was for me. When I thought I couldn’t throw it any further he was there to tell me I could and I did! We were winners! We didn’t get to all the games we wanted to play but there is always next year.
When the heat got to be too much for us we went and played in the pond. Well, some more than others…. I watched a lot but I swam some too! I know not to get into the pond when it’s full of teen’s. They tend to gang up on the old lady….
I even played a game of Croquet… My, it has been such a long, long time. Had to remember the rules as we played… I think we may have even made a few up because we couldn’t remember the rules. :-)
I think the best thing God has blest me with is loving family and good friends. I give God a praise!
